IRO,
Island Rescue Organization, Inc. is a SEC registered non-profit organization
composed of volunteers dedicated to helping the plight of animals in the region
through rescue, education and advocacy. IRO’s goal is to promote responsible
pet ownership and humane treatment of animals, rescue homeless companion
animals, and establish the first rescue center and sanctuary in Cebu. IRO’s
headquarters is located in Cebu City, however, there are IRO chapters
established in Samar and Aklan.
While "iro" means "dog" in the Visaya language of Cebu, IRO isn't just about dogs: we promote the welfare of all kinds of animals pursuant to the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (Republic Act number 8485).
IRO is a secular organization, not affiliated with any religion or church. The only qualification required to be a member is to have compassion for animals.
Rules for Blog Comments: Please post only comments that are related to IRO's Mission of animal welfare. However, since IRO's philosophy is based on compassion for all living things, matters affecting our community to enrich our mission are encouraged.
